IPAC ADOPTS BUNI, AS CONSENSUS GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE IN YOBE

Yobe state Chairman of Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Alhaji Umar Kukuri has said that the council has adopted Mai Mala Buni of All Progressive Congress (APC) as consensus governorship candidate. Kukuri announced the adoption on Sunday in Damaturu, while fielding questions from journalists on Governor Ibrahim Gaidam anoint of Buni, as the governorship aspirant. He said the council’s decision to adopt Buni, was based on the need to promote good governance and continuity in services deliveries, adding that; “it ensures dividends of democracy to the people.” His words: “So far, there are no governorship aspirants in other political parties; except APC. We have carefully sieved aspirants from the party to arrive at supporting and to adopt Buni for the governorship election in the state. “Although we do not belong to the ruling APC but it is about our collective fate and future as citizens of Yobe; which is our primary interest above any others. “We’ve have carefully gauged all the aspirants and arrived at supporting the aspiration of Buni for continuity in the achievements recorded in the health, education, roads network and agricultural sectors among others.” The chairman also noted that council was inspired by the collective decision of the APC Stakeholders to nominate Buni; as the preferred aspirant. He said even President Muhammadu Buhari had also supported the aspiration of the APC national secretary; based on his impeccable character of transparency, accountability and commitment to service. According to him, Buni has earned the confidence of President Buhari, which speaks volumes of the trust and competence in him. He therefore; commended the party for the peaceful conduct of its affairs during the recent congresses and Stakeholders meeting to endorse Buni; as the preferred aspirant of the party. He urged the party and its supporters to sustain the peaceful electioneering; during and after the primary elections. Governor Ibrahim has in spite of the position taken on his choice of a preferred successor, said the contest is still open for other aspirants who oppose the endorsement. “This is good democracy to ensure ‘transparency and accountability’ to the people,” he said “He assured that IPAC will always promote good governance “as politicians with the interest of our people, we will ensure transparency and accountability.” According to him, good governance and service delivery have remained the focus of politicians and political parties in the state.
