BBNAIJA: Phyna Rejects 13 Million, Insists On 1 BTC

Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Josephina Otabor, aka Phyna, has rejected N13 million offered her by one of the sponsors of the reality show, Quidax.

It was earlier reported that Phyna, who won Season 7 of the reality show in 2022, has been calling out the organisers and their sponsors over incomplete prizes.

Quidax had pledged to give Phyna 1 BTC as part of her prizes but were yet to fulfil their promise two years after.

Following Phyna’s recent outburst, they met with the reality star and offered her N13m which they claimed was the value of 1 BTC in 2022 when they made the pledge.

However, speaking in a video message shared via her social media page, Phyna said she rejected the offer and insisted that they gave her the 1 BTC which she said is now worth over N90 million.

She also insisted that the organisers of the reality show and their sponsors must give her tickets for a trip-for-two to Maldives which was also part of her prizes.

Phyna said, “I am standing on my Maldives trip for two. So I’m waiting to get my tickets for Maldives. You can’t give me Kenya or Morocco as options to pick from. I can fund my trip if I want to go to Kenya or Morocco.

“Also, Quidax said they will give me N13m; the rate of 1 BTC in 2022. Before I countered that, I reminded them that as at when I checked in November 2022, 1 BTC was N22m but they insisted that it was N13.8m. So I referred to my Google and it showed me that 1 BTC was about N19m in November 2022.

“If Quidax had given me my 1 BTC in 2022, today I will be having about N96 million sitting in wallet. Now you are telling me that you are going to give me N13m, so what happens to all my lost in the past two, three years?”

Bayelsa State Boosts Riverine Healthcare with Six New UNICEF-Donated Ambulance Boats

Bayelsa State Boosts Riverine Healthcare with Six New UNICEF-Donated Ambulance Boats

By Edoamaowo Udeme

The United Nation Childrens Fund (UNICEF) has handed over six ambulance boats to the Bayelsa State Government to improve healthcare and emergency response services in riverine communities living in far flung areas.

This was contained in a released statement from its Nigerian office today, according to the release “The ambulance boats, funded by Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), are equipped with medical amenities, and staffed with healthcare personnel trained to provide swift and effective emergency medical assistance, transport patients including pregnant women in labour and newborns to medical facilities and facilitate immunization outreach programmes”

With nearly 100 out of every 1000 children not surviving to see their fifth birthday, infant mortality at 70 per 1000 births, 32 per cent of pregnant women not receiving antenatal care and only about 40 per cent babies delivered in health facilities in Bayelsa State, the ambulance boats are timely to improve survival rates for women and children.

“The provision of these ambulance boats represents a critical step towards ensuring that even the most remote communities have access to lifesaving healthcare services, said Ms. Cristian Munduate, UNICEF Nigeria Country Representative. “These boats will not only serve as a means of transportation for patients but also function as platforms for delivering essential healthcare interventions, such as immunizations, antenatal care, and health education, directly to those in need”.

“We are deeply grateful for the donation of these six ambulance boats, which bring hope to our riverine communities. This initiative is an important step in our ongoing efforts to safeguard the lives of our mothers, children, and vulnerable populations across Bayelsa. These boats will not only ensure timely medical interventions but also fortify our resolve to provide equitable healthcare services, irrespective of geographical barriers. Together, we are navigating towards a brighter, healthier future for every citizen of Bayelsa State.” Said His Excellency Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Deputy Governor, Bayelsa State.

This initiative builds on the priorities of the Federal Ministry of Health as expressed in the Nigeria Health Renewal Investment Initiative, to make the health system more equitable and efficient, reduce the number of children who have not received any vaccine, and improve immunization coverage.

The delivery of the ambulance boats makes up part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2022 between the Bayelsa State Government, the Federal Ministry of Health, the Nigeria Governors Forum, GAVI, and UNICEF to improve routine immunization and primary healthcare systems and reduce loss of life, particularly among women and children.

Davido, in response to Cubana Chief Priest’s post, expressed disbelief at the possibility of his friend being incarcerated. He emphatically stated his inability to endure six months without seeing him, indicating strong support and confidence in Cubana Chief Priest’s innocence.

This reaction comes in the wake of another high-profile case where Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced popular crossdresser Bobrisky to six months in jail without the option of a fine for Naira mutilation.

However, upon news of his arrest, multiple videos of the socialite abusing the Naira have continued to make rounds on social media.
