Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have killed several Boko Haram terrorists with the loss of a soldier in an ambush along Gudumbali-Kukawa axis of Borno state. The ambush and repulsion occurred on Friday, while relief materials were being distributed to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Gudumbali in Guzamala Local Government Area. This was disclosed in a statement of Theatre Command, Deputy Director Public Relations, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, released Saturday in Maiduguri. He said the terrorists took advantage of the distribution of relief materials, before firing at troops’ location with gun trucks in the axis. According to him, the troops fought gallantly and outmanoevred the terrorists with heavy casualties “Unfortunately, the soldier paid the supreme price during the encounter, while another was wounded in action,” said Nwachukwu. He said the troops recovered bodies of neutralised terrorists, with the recovery of large quantity of ammunition and eight Rocket Propelled Grenades charges. He said normalcy has been restored, with the reinforcement of troops in the Gudumbali-Kakawa axis.
