INEC Accredited 146,913 International, Domestic Observers For 2023 Elections

INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu stated this while briefing the observers in Abuja ahead of this Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly Elections.

Professor Yakubu appealed to them to respect the sovereignty of the country and abide by rules guiding observation mission in Nigeria.

He warned the observers against partisanship and interference in the electoral process while carrying out the assignment across the country.

According to the INEC chairman, All accredited Observers are expected to submit their reports to the commission at the end of the general election.

INEC Boss stressed that the number of accredited observers for this year’s general election was the highest in the history of the country.

Earlier, the Regional Director of Africa Federation of Electoral System IFES, Clara Cole said election observation had become an integral part of election as it would expose irregularities, boost public confidence and recommend a way of improvement on electoral processes.

Mrs Cole assured that the organization would continue to support INEC in conducting free, fair and credible elections in the country.
