YOBE EARMARKS N4.6B TO BUILD, PROCURE EMPOWERMENT EQUIPPMENT

The Yobe State Executive Council (SEC) has earmarked N4.6 billion for the construction and renovations of five Government secondary schools and science technical colleges across the state.

The Schools and Colleges are sited in Damagum, Ngelzarma, Gashua and Damaturu, the state capital and to be completed at N2, 357, 015, 380.52.

Unveiling the seven capital projects, yesterday (Thursday), in Damaturu, the Commissioner of Information, Muhammad Lamin, disclosed: “The sum of N3.64 billion was approved by the Council for the procurement of various empowerment equipment to unemployed women and youths in the state.”

He said that the distribution of the equipment and materials will impact on the living conditions of the people.

Besides the empowerment equipment, he added that the construction of five kilometres of road and a parking lot at the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital, Damaturu will cost N136.43 million

According to him, other approvals made by council for execution; include payments of N883.35 million tuition fees of 763 students at the Nigerian Tulib International College.

“Medical equipment will also be procured for onward delivery across the state at the total cost of N478.24 million,” he said.

“The Krebs and interlocking of the Maternal and Child Health Complex at the teaching hospital, Damaturu was approved for completion at N104.22 million.

He said that the Damaturu city gate and security posts at the four axis have been earmarked for the sum of N456.1 million.

“We also approve N154.37 million for the building of a water supply scheme at the newly constructed maternity and child complex of the teaching hospital,” he said.
