Top Military officers beg Troops over non-payment of operational allowances
Top military officers at the Defence Headquarters, DHQ, and some commanders of various ongoing military operations in the country have sought the understanding of troops over non-payments of their two-month operational allowances, Scroll reports.
The troops, who are those prosecuting the military operations across the country, namely: Operations Delta, Hadarin Daji and Whirl Stroke, have been complaining of the non-payment of their combat allowances, even as they continue to conduct operations to degrade the terrorists and economic saboteurs in the various theatres of operations.
PRNigeria reliably gathered that the troops are aggrieved over the delay in the payment of their October and November 2022 operational allowances.
However, credible sources told PRNigeria that the intervention of some senior military officers and commanders eventually made the troops shelve any actions that would negatively impact ongoing operations.
One of the sources, who is a top officer at DHQ, spoke with PRNigeria reporter, regarding the complaints coming from the theatres.
He however, said that though troops across the various theatres of operation are yet to receive alerts for their combat allowances for the last two months, the military hierarchy is working round the clock to ensure the troops get their entitlements.
He said: “The thing is, the whole issue of the non-payment of their October and November allowances was necessitated by some challenges around budgetary approvals.
“However, the Defence Headquarters is working hard to ensure those affected are settled, in the next few days.
According to the top officer, the DHQ has waded into the matter and very soon will ensure the troops are paid the two months arrears of their allowances.
