The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman and Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, joined other dignitaries to celebrate the 80th birthday of President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday, 17 December, 2022.

The President’s birthday was celebrated inside the presidential jet on his way back to Nigeria from the United States.

Recall that Buhari travelled to America to attend the United States-Africa Leaders Summit.

Some birthday photos were earlier taken in Washington DC before the President’s departure to Nigeria.

Meanwhile, goodwill messages haven’t stopped pouring in as many Nigerians including the Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo, celebrated the head of state.

“Happy 80th Birthday, Mr President!

“Your extraordinary life of unblemished service to the nation in the army, as a Governor, Minister, Military Head of State and two-term Civilian President demonstrates that it is possible to serve the nation and our people honestly, forthrightly and selflessly.

“Dolly and I, and the family wish you many more happy years in peace and good health in Jesus’ name. Amen,” the VP wrote.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Princess Adejoke Orelope –Adefulire described President Muhammadu Buhari as a forthright leader with passion and genuine love for the people.

Princess Orelope-Adefulire said this in a statement of congratulations to President Buhari on his 80th birthday.

The SDGs boss noted that the President has demonstrated his genuine love for the downtrodden and the vulnerable since his election in 2015 through his various programmes, policies, initiatives and investments in infrastructure across the country.

“Under him, Nigeria is implementing the biggest social investment scheme in Africa. President Buhari is the President that signed the Disability Act into law and he also makes it operational through the establishment of the Disability Commission.

“His administration is implementing many schemes and initiatives designed to empower Nigerian youths and in line with this desire to see 100 million Nigerians lifted out of poverty in 10 years. All these are also in tune with goals and targets of the 2023 Agenda,” Orelope-Adefulire said.

“Without his support, we could not have recorded such achievements. On this 80th birthday therefore, I hailed this forthright, selfless and honest leader who has demonstrated that he is the ultimate champion of SDGs in Nigeria.”

She commended President Buhari for the firm support to her and her office in the implementation of SDGs in Nigeria, especially, the interventions on health, education and empowerment related goals that are already having positive impacts on lives across Nigeria.

“Congratulations, Mr. President and here is wishing you more years in peace, good health and wisdom,” Orelope-Adefulire said.

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, also congratulated the President on his 80th birthday, describing him as a leader who remains focused on strengthening democracy in Nigeria.

Obasa’s congratulatory message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Eromosele Ebhomele, exemplified President Buhari’s humility, honesty, selflessness and passion for a better and more secured Nigeria makes him a true leader.

The Speaker said Buhari’s maturity, wisdom, courage and zeal to ensure Nigeria stands a united country remains a mark of his leadership capacity.

He commended the President for ensuring his administration’s success in infrastructure renewal and development in the nation.

He further noted how President Buhari’s effort to deepen democracy made him join the battle for the autonomy of State legislatures and judiciary in compliance with section 121(3) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as Amended).
