BUNI SIGNS N163B BUDGET INTO LAW FOR 2023

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has signed the N163 billion budget into law for the 2023 fiscal year.

According to him, the State House of Assembly has however, reduced the appropriation bill from N163, 155, 366, 000 to N163, 005, 366, 000, representing one per cent fall.

Assenting the budget, yesterday (Friday), in Damaturu, the Governor disclosed: “The 2023 Budget is for Continuity, Consolidation and Economic Transformation,” stating that the appropriation bill will focus on the completion of ongoing capital projects across the state.

He explained that the 2023 budget submitted to the state house of assembly has a total sum of ₦163,155,366,000.

Besides, he added the capital and recurrent expenditures stood at N75.1 billion and N87.8 billion respectively.

He noted that the quick passage of the budget, was an indication of the good working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government.

He added that the ongoing projects to be completed in 2023 include the international cargo airport, three modern markets and a trailer transit park in Potiskum.

He said that the completion of the projects are to boost Internally Generated Revenues (IGR).

“We’re initiating new projects to create more job opportunities to our youths and women to promote self-reliance, he said.

He, therefore, called on public office holders, civil servants and contractors to continue uphold the values of transparency, due process and accountability to ensure financial discipline, while implementing the assented budget into law.
