Aisha Buhari has finally bowed to pressure, and has withdrawn the defamation case against Aminu Ahmed Muhammed, the student of Federal University, Dutse.
According to Daily Trust, prosecution counsel, Fidelis Ogbobe, told the court in Abuja on Friday that the President’s wife withdrew the case due to the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians.
Back in June, Muhammed had tweeted that the First Lady was feeding ‘fat’ on poor people’s money.
The tweet, which was posted in Hausa, read: “Su mama anchi kudin talkawa ankoshi.” It loosely translates as “Mama has fed fat on poor people’s money.”
A picture of Aisha was posted with the tweet to match the joke.
In November, Muhammed was whisked away by the State Secret Service (SSS), to unknown location.
Last week, the news of Muhammed’s arrest went viral with his friends and family raising the alarm about his whereabouts.
It was later reported by voiceofnaija.ng that Muhammed was locked up in the Presidential villa and beaten by security operatives in the presence of the First Lady.
The First Lady, has been constantly trolled by Nigerians since news of Muhammed’s arrest broke last week.
Celebrities, social media influencers, students, politicians, media analysts have been commenting on the plight of Mohammed, who landed in trouble over a comment that the wife of Nigeria’s number one citizen found offensive.
The latest development revealed that the First Lady has now withdrawn the defamation case against the final year student of the Department of Environmental Management.
