SWAP, Boko Haram clashes Kill Commander, Other Fighters In Borno

The Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram terrorists clashed Wednesday in the axis of Chinene/Barawa, killing Ummate Ma and dozens of fighters in Borno State.

Ma held the position of Governor of Boko Haram, before ISWAP terrorists staged an ambush against the slain Commander in the Mandara Mountains, east of Sambisa Forest.

A Counter Insurgency and Security Analyst, Zagazola Makama, yesterday (Saturday), in Maiduguri, stated that; “The two-hour ambush against Ma’s convoy resulted in the neutralization of dozens of Boko Haram fighters in the border communities with Cameroon.

On how the Commander and terrorists were killed, Makama, said that the terrorists in seven gun trucks and 10 motorcycles however overpowered the Boko Haram terrorists.

He added that ISWAP seized Boko Haram weapons, gun trucks and their motorcycles used in terrorizing border communities with Cameroon.

“The Boko Haram Commander was shot in the chest and several parts of his bodies, before he gave up the ghost,” he said.

The SWAP coordinated attack was however; in response to the killing of a senior ISWAP Commander, Abou Sadiqou Buorubouru and several other terrorists,

Meanwhile, he noted that the terrorists had earlier suspended all major attacks against the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies.

According to him, ISWAP focuses confrontation on its rivals to eliminate all Boko Haram fighters in the Sambisa Forest and Lake Chad region.

He added that Ummate Ma also known as Muhamma was the number 271 among the top most wanted terror kingpin in the list of Nigerian Military.

He joined the Boko Haram in 2009; and rose to become a Khayd (Governor), in the cabinet of Abubakar Shekau.

Little was known about the Mandara born terror leader, until he participated in invasion of Bama town in September 2014, where hundreds of men were killed.

Besides, he added that many people were held captives after Bama was declared an Islamic caliphate for Boko Haram

“Ma become popular among the fighters after he supervised the slaughtering of over 400 men at the Bama Bridge,” he said, adding that he also jailed over 3,000 women after killing dozens of men at the Bama prison.

Continuing, he said that the slain commander led several missions to attack military positions in Konduga, Kawuri, Banki, Bama and Madagali in Adamawa State.

“He also coordinated the Improvised Explosive Device(IEDs) attacks in the North East Borno and Adamawa states,” he added.

According to Makama, this marks one of the most significant blow to Boko Haram by the ISWAP in Northeast,”

He further disclosed that when the news of Ma’s killing broke, the entire Bama, Gwoza and Banki including border communities were thrown in the state of jubilation.
