The Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO), UN Women and World Food Programme (WFP) are to celebrate the impacts of EU completed projects in Borno. The celebration which is slated for today (Monday) in Maiduguri, the state capital, was to restore and promote sustainable agricultural-based livelihoods for food security.
The EU-funded projects are also to “create and sustain” job opportunities with improved nutrition among 1.5 million people in IDP camps and host communities. The FAO country representative, Fred Kafeero in a statement Sunday in Maiduguri, disclosed that the three-year initiatives were implemented by the agricultural organisation, UN Women and WFP. “The programme was designed to restore and promote sustainable agricultural-based livelihoods of people affected in the 12-year insurgency,” he said.
