S.Arabia Supports 1,391 Yobe IDPs With Relief Materials

The Saudi Arabian Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (HARC) of King Salman; has supported 3,971 internally displaced persons (IDPs) with relief and food items in Yobe. The donated materials werre to alleviate the sufferings of Kasaisa IDPs in camp during the Ramadan fast. According to him, HARC had in 2018 similar humanitarian interventions in Borno and Yobe states. While distributing donated food items Friday in Damaturu, the Director General of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Muhammadu Mohammed disclosed that: “The 12-year Boko Haram activities in the state, have resulted into massive displacement of people from their ancestral homes.” He said humanitarian crises require immediate relief interventions from the federal and state governments including humanitarian agencies. While lamenting incessant attacks, he said: “This donation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia cannot come at a better time taking into account the current predicaments of the IDPs. “A total of 3,971 food baskets containing a bag of rice, beans and condiments will be given to each household “The intervention cost the donors $1,147,310 (N437 million) in Borno, Yobe and Zamfara states.” The Executive Secretary, Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje also assured that the items would be distributed to each of the affected households in camps and host communities.
