Army kills nine Boko Haram terrorists in Borno, Yobe

Troops of 151, 112 Task Force Battalions and 21 Special Armoured Brigade of Operation Fireball have killed nine Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno and Yobe. During military operations, they also recovered two each of AK-47 rifles, bicycles and bags of grains, while conducting clearance operations in the Pulka/Firgi/Banki axis and Goniri community in Yobe state While announcing troops’ operational successes Saturday at the Special Army Super Camp 1, Ngamdu, Borno state, Acting Director Defense Media Operations, Brig-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko disclosed that; “Our troops successfully sprang a well-coordinated ambush along Pulka/Firgi/Banki junction against the fleeing terrorists. “During the decisive encounter, four terrorists were killed, while two each of bicycles and wheel barrows; and bags of fish and grains were also recovered.” Similarly, he added that on December 8, 2020, troops of 151 Battalion had an encounter with Boko Haram criminals along Pulka/Firgi road and neutralized an insurgent with the recovery of his AK-47 rifle and ammunition. According to him, the terrorists were engaged with high volume of fire, forcing them to scamper and fled towards Sambisa Forest. Speaking on Damaturu/Gujba road clearance patrols, he said: “The 21 Special Armoured Brigade conducted clearance operations in the general area of Goniri village of forest. “During a fierce battle with terrorists, one of them was gunned down, while others fled with gunshot wounds towards the south flank of forest,” adding that an AK-47 was also recovered along with an empty magazine and a cell phone handset. He urged the troops not to relent on their operational successes of routing remnants of fleeing terrorists. He therefore assured the people of Northeast; that the military is determined to finally rout remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP criminals from forest hideouts. “We encourage you to avail our troops with credible information that could help in the execution of ongoing military operations,” he said.
