UMTH Security Guards Lock Hospital Gates Over salary Bag Logs

Date:

The University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) security guards have yesterday locked the main gate to hospital over bag log of four months salaries. Confirming the incident Monday in Maiduguri, Borno state, UMTH’s Security Officer, Hassan Bukar; disclosed that the hospital authority failed to pay salaries of security personnel for four months. “Our members are protesting in the name of our entitlement, because we are not paid for about four months,” he said. While lamenting non-payments of salaries, he said: “In the past; we did a riot, after payment of one month salary. “We therefore kept mute and no one is talking about the salary anymore.” He alleged that the Chief Medical Director of UMTH, Prof. Ahmadu Ahijo only cares about security of constructed hospital buildings and surgery theatre. He however noted that the management of hospital, is had been concerned with welfare of security personnel. According to him, the CMD has addressed them and pledged to offset the bag log of salaries by Federal Government.
