Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state; has paid N247 million gratuity and pension arrears of 194 Local Government retirees. The promotion arrears of N43.9 million, was also approved for immediate payments to the council staff. Director General for Press Affairs to the Governor, Abdullahi Bego disclosed this Thursday in Damaturu, the state capital.
He added that the implementation of CONHESS Salary Scale for council veterinary staff begins this month. He said of the 194 beneficiaries, 62 are deceased and their entitlements amounted to N83.9 million and will be paid to their next of kin “The remaining 132 living retirees will receive a total of N163.12 million,” he noted. He said yesterday’s payments, is 38th batch in the long list of benefit payments to retired local government workers. He said last October, Buni approved the payments of N251.6 million for 174 council retirees. “Another 113 staff who were migrated to the Primary Healthcare Management Board (PHCMB) will also receive N2.72 million as their promotion arrears. “His Excellency has approved N24, 893, 932.00 as monthly increment on the salaries of the benefitting veterinary staff,” he said.
