NAF PARTNERS YOBE TO END B’HARAM INSURGENCY, OTHERS

Governor Maimala Buni of Yobe state; has said that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has continued to do the nation proud with “sustained aerial bombardments” to rout out Boko Haram terrorists from their hideouts. According to him, the terrorists’ hideouts are located in Sambisa Forest and the Lake Chad region of Borno and Yobe states. Buni spoke on Friday, when the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar visited him at the Government House, Damaturu. He said that the Airforce plays a very important role in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency and other criminalities across the nation.

His words: “We are much safer today in Yobe State and the rest of the country; because of the services of Air Force, military and other para-military forces. “Your visit would therefore give us an opportunity to discuss further and strengthen our commitment to the protection of people’s lives and property.” He also expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his resolute commitment to fighting the insurgency and ensuring that the state emerges stronger from it. According to him, this include the insurance of the military support to establishment the North-East Development Commission (NEDC). “Buhari has remained our strongest pillar of support and succour as we steadily match towards a post-insurgency era,” he said.

The Air Force, according to Buni, has continued to evolve as a formidable fighting force to end Boko Haram insurgency. Continued: “Your leadership has ensured that today, we have female air officers and fighter pilots for the very first time in the history of the Air Force. “You have indeed; taken the Air Force to the next level. Congratulations for these and many other achievements.” He therefore, assured Abubakar that the government and people of Yobe will continue to strengthen the synergy, collaboration and exchange of information with Air Force and other security agencies end insurgency. He said no sacrifice is too much to support and cooperate with the security agencies enforce law and order to protect people’s lives and property. On how to end insurgency, he said: “The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) will continue to develop new strategies for effective intelligence gathering and aerial surveillance of the vulnerable areas of our state so as to mop out any remnants of terrorists. “The people are to remain vigilant and continue to provide useful information to security agents whenever and wherever they notice any suspicious persons or movements,” saying that security is everybody’s business, as government and security agencies cannot end the war alone.
