DEMOCRACY IS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR THE PEOPLE TO ENJOY, NOT FOR ONE POLITICIAN’S FAMILY ALONE-COMRADE OBASUYI

The NDCP Candidate for Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency of Edo State; Comrade Michael Obasuyi yesterday rolled out his plans for his Constituency. The Comrade in his words said “Democracy is supposed to be for the People to enjoy, not for one Politician’s Family alone. I have seen the Suffering in the Land and I will not leave any Stone unturned, in making sure that things are set Right”.  An excerpt from his Manifesto;

TEN-POINT AGENDA

TRANSFORMATION 2019.

The Manifesto of Comrade Michael Osamudiamen OBASUYI, NDCP Candidate for House Of Representatives, Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency, Edo State. Nigeria;

1. STRENGTHENING GOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS

 I shall Strengthen the Institutions of Government at all levels. This is the most effective way to fight corruption. It shall raise the law above everyone and not anyone above the law. This would make corrupt persons to be accountable and face harsh sanctions. I shall achieve this by Sponsoring bills and motions in the House. I shall rally my other Colleagues in the House and use my abilities as a Comrade to Coerce and persuade other Honourable members to support my Bills.

2. DECENT WAGES FOR WORKERS

I shall sponsor bills and advocate for a revisit to the Renumeration of Workers in the Country. I believe once the People have good pay, they would think less of corruption. The Youths would see that crime doesn’t pay, but hardwork does. The sharp contrast in salaries of Politicians to Civil Servants is so noticeable, that an average Worker feeds less than the Dog of an average Politician.

3. RE-STRUCTURING & RESOURCE CONTROL

I shall Move motions to put Nigeria on the path of restructuring. Every State, every LGA must get the dividends of what they produce or contribute to the Nation. This shall cut across State Policing, Agriculture, Sports, Mining, especially Education and Healthcare.

4. YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

I shall take off 1,000 Youths from the Streets by creating the largest Skill Acquisition centre in My Constituency. This centre shall have Nine(9) Departments, which shall train People in Mechanical repairs, Electrical repairs, Building and Construction, Vehicle Assembling, and other areas in Agriculture. This shall be a two-year programme. After which students shall proceed to Moscow State University, Russia to complete training for another one or two years. They shall be awarded a B.Tech degree and there shall be special financial benefits for People who will come back to Nigeria to develop it. The entry requirements for this programme shall not be SSCE/WAEC, but anyone who expresses willingness to learn a skill. Hence, turning the unskilled to be skilled, the uneducated to be Educated, the unqualified to be qualified.

5. ATTRACT FOREIGN INVESTMENTS

I shall attract foreign investments in my Constituency. I have associates who are ready to invest in Edo state, Nigeria, but only would do so if someone they trust is in Power. For example, I have a US-based firm that wants to establish a Solar system plant worth $10 billion. This would create employment for the Youths, boost Government’s income/revenues, and make Edo State a focal point for Nigeria. I shall ensure I attract Five Foreign Investments, which shall be operational in my Constituency ,before leaving office in May, 2023.

6. REVAMPING PRIMARY HEALTHCARE

I shall as a matter of urgency, declare a State of Emergency in the Primary Healthcare sector of my Constituency. I shall revamp broken Primary Healthcare Centers, build new ones, employ Doctors, Nurses and other Hospital staff, get good Hospital and Laboratory equipment, as well as proper Medical supplies and a proper power source. This would reduce the avoidable deaths recorded daily in my Constituency, as a result of lack of access to Tertiary Healthcare centres, overcrowded facilities, etc. It shall also reduce Maternal-Infant mortality rate.

7. SCHOLARSHIPS FOR CHILDREN

I shall annually award 200 Scholarships to Children from age 7-15 years across Schools in my Constituency. The screening and selection criteria shall be based on academic merit.

8. CONSTRUCTION OF FEDERAL ROADS

I shall attract Federal Presence for Construction of Roads in my Constituency, and State. I shall do this by raising Motions and lobbying for such motions to be adopted by my other Colleagues. I shall make my case so strong and urgent, that would attract empathy from my Colleagues. I shall also Construct some street roads in my Constituency, especially those that would make life easier for my people.

9. AGRICULTURE

I shall focus on sustainable agriculture. The bed rock of a Nation is Agriculture. It drives a Nation. I shall purchase a very vast portion of lands for the Constituency, where Farmers can practice mono-cropping, focusing on Rice Production. I shall give Farmers acres of Land to farm on Free of charge and give them Agricultural grants based on proposals. There shall be perimeter fencing to avoid activities of Herdsmen and there shall be Annual target. This is geared towards providing food on the tables on the common man in my Constituency.

10. WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

I shall give women soft loans through a microfinance bank. Such funds must be what is enough for them to start up descent businesses. There will be monitoring teams to monitor the activities of beneficiaries. This shall be a yearly routine. I believe once the women are strengthened, it will have a positive ripple effect on the men, Children and youths. As most of these women have husbands and Children.

Using the little resources available to my office as Member Representing Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, I am sure to take this Constituency to greater heights, causing transformation all the way.
