The wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari has commissioned five mega girl child and orphanage integrated schools to secure future developments of children affected by Boko Haram insurgency. Hajiya Aisha, during her visit to Maiduguri, the Borno state capital on Saturday also inspected the Aisha Orphanage Foundation (ARF) project at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Housing Estate. Inaugurating yesterday the Model Orphanage Integrated School (MOIS), she said the schools will “restore and secure” the shattered educational future of children by insurgency. The nine-year insurgency has destroyed many schools with the killing of over 2, 500 teachers across the state. “Let me take this opportunity of inaugurating this Orphanage Integrated School in the heart of Maiduguri metropolis,” she said, adding the commissioning of schools is for the development of over 53,000 affected orphans. The wife of Governor Kashim Shettima, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima said that Boko Haram insurgency has disrupted both the education and economic sectors by destroying most of the schools and other means of livelihoods. She said that as education, is the bedrock of any developed society, the completion and commissioning of 28 mega schools will secure the educational and future prospects of children. Speaking on Aisha Orphanage Foundation, she said: “When the ongoing project, sited on 2.1 hectres of land, is completed, it will have 12 classrooms with a library that accommodates 80 students. “The architectural design of Orphanage Foundation project buildings has court yards to overcome challenges of the hot dry weather conditions.”
