ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT SHOT DEAD IN OGUN

Operatives of Ogun State Police Command in the early hours of Friday 9th November 2018 shot dead a member of a Five-man robbery syndicate at Ibara housing estate area of Abeokuta metropolis.

The gang at about 1:00am of Friday 09/11/18 invaded a compound housing twelve flats with dangerous weapons and started dispossessing the occupants of their valuable properties.

In the course of their operation, a distress call was made to the Police by a neighbour, on the strength of which the Commissioner of Police Cp Ahmed Iliyasu promptly directed the Officer in charge FSARS, Sp Uba Adams, to quickly move into the scene and rescue the situation.

The operatives of FSARS swiftly moved into the scene where they engaged the hoodlums in gun battle at the end of which one of the gang members was shot dead while others escaped with various degrees of gunshot injuries.

The items recovered from the gang include GSM handsets, 4 laptops computers, wallets and other valuables belonging to the residents of the compound.

The victims of the robbery were full of praises for the operatives of FSARS for their quick response to their distress call.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Cp Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered for massive manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang with the view to bringing them to justice within the shortest possible time. He equally warned criminals to stop testing the Command’s resolve and willpower in crime fighting as they will always meet their waterloo whenever and wherever they operate within the State.
