A member of an armed robbery syndicate was in the early hour of Tuesday 4th of September shot dead by men of Ogun State Police Command along Shagamu/Ore express road.
The robber was shot dead during a gun battle between the bandits and Policemen attached to Odogbolu Divisional headquarters. This happened as a result of distress call received by the DPO Odogbolu Division Sp Simire Hilary that some hoodlums have blocked the expressway in an attempt to disposes people of their belongings.
On receiving the information, the DPO led his Anti-Robbery team to the scene where they met the robbers attacking a truck driver, on sighting the Police; the hoodlums opened fire on the Policemen while the Policemen too retaliated. At the end of the encounter, one of the hoodlums was shot dead while other members of the gang escaped into the bush with bullet wounds. The truck driver one Micheal Okechuckwu was rescued unhurt.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Cp Ahmed Iliyasu who expresses satisfaction on the gallantry performance of his men has ordered that the remaining members of the gang should be hunted for and brought to book. He equally appealed to hospitals as well as traditional healers to notify the police if anybody is seen with bullet injury in their area.
