Over ten aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Ogbia local government area have declared their intentions to seek for various elective offices in the 2018 general elections.
The aspirants made their formal declaration at a gathering of stakeholders of the local government under the aegis of the Ogbia Restoration Caucus.
The aspirants include; Hon. Fred Obuah, the State Commissioner for Special Project and business man, Barr. George Turnah for the Ogbia Federal Constituency seat.
Others are; Hon. Mieteme Obodo and Barr. Azibataman Johnbull for Constituency one seat in the State House of Assembly
The rest are; Hon. Gibson Munalayefa, Hon. Awudumu Cleric, Barr. Adulphus Isangba, Hon. Ombu Aleke and Hon. Henry Idiola Tebeda for Constituency 2.
Surprisingly none of the aspirants for the Constituency 3 seat showed up, neither did they send emissaries to declare on their behalf.
Chairman of the Ogbia Restoration Caucus, Chief George Okirinya while admonishing the aspirants thanked them for their maturity in the pursuit of their ambition.
He also applauded them for coming before the caucus to declare their intentions and urged them not to engage in needless political battle.
Okirinya charged them to go into the primaries with an open mind and be ready to accept the outcome and also work with whoever emerges victorious in the various constituencies.
The chairman of the caucus reiterated that politics should not divide them as a people and warned the aspirants to prevail on their supporters to shun violence, stressing that no blood should be spilled because of the ambition of any of them.
He blasted those who have indicated interest to run but refused to appear before the caucus, because of their ego and flippant attitude.
Okirinya stated that nobody is bigger than the party and asked those who still use the name of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson to boast that he has endorsed them to stop deceiving their followers.
According to him, elections are popularity and credibility contest, and so they should be prepared to have their day with the party’s delegate at the primaries.
