Edward Ashiedu Brown was one of the pioneer of the group called Remedies. Remedies were a pioneering Nigerian hiphop music group consisting of Eddy Remedy, Eedris Remedy and Tony Remedy known as Tony Tetuila. The group broke up but today they day they are one. Can they survive the industry with the likes of David O, Wizkid, Adekunle Gold etc
Eddy Remedy is back and better, what is the secret?
Eddy– True realization of who Eddy really is was on the key. And to know this I had to build a relationship with my maker.
I also never stopped following up on the industry and it’s growth. I had to find my place and fit in or else, I might not be able to cope with the pace.
We had Eddy Remedy. Eedris Remedy and Tony Remedy known as Tetuila, you stood out because of your unique voice. Who is the real Remedy?
Eddy- Eddy Remedy is a passionate person. Loving to a fault…maybe. Lives to procure solution to pending matters. I’m in love with music, I love kids and I love family but I’m still a lone ranger lol.
With the likes of Olamide, David O, Wiz Kid, Adekunle Gold etc do you still have a chance in the music Industry?
Eddy- Ooh those guys have been awesome but I play a lot of love, romance and inspirational joints now with still a touch of R and B in it. It’s called ” Lovers rock”. So yes I still have a place in the industry as I’m not going to be competing with anyone.
What is your relationship with Eedris and Tony now?
Eddy- My relationship with Eedris and Tony is very cool. We are buddies for life but I’m going to be focusing a great deal on the Eddy Remedy brand this year. That’s apart from the fact that it’s our 20 years on stage.
Great, does it prove a point that you were not relying on Kenny St. Brown now Kenny St. Best, and Kennis music to build a career?
Eddy- I have never relied on them to build a career. Kennis music was the best record label at that time and we Remedies were the best new thing in Nigeria at I the time. Kennis music needed Remedies to make a statement coming into the industry, while we did business signing up. We helped each other.
How do you rate the performance of musicians now, a lot don’t work hard enough to produce good music anymore?
Eddy- Yes, well you know it’s a crazy jet age thing. This generation has the internet. Back then we had to read lots of books to know things. They are not lazy to me but they have become careless with our language, cursing and all that.
So how do you encourage young and upcoming musicians?
Eddy- I encourage the new ones to be strong first spiritually, Know God. Then work and train hard because there is always someone better than you out there.
So how do you intend to spend Easter?
Eddy- With family, lol. I have a gig to play at the Island too.
