Homeowners’ Charter Programme Has Reduced Land Related Fraud, Amosun

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has said the Homeowners Charter Programme has reduced to the barest minimum the problem of land speculators and other property related fraud in the state.

Governor Amosun disclosed this while presenting Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) and other land title documents to another batch of beneficiaries under the scheme at the Oba’s Complex Auditorium, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

Represented by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Otunba Dayo Adeneye, the governor said his administration has shown commitment by embarking on the bi-monthly presentation of certificates to beneficiaries, indicating that the programme is not mere political gimmicks.

”When we conceptualised the idea of Homeowner Charter Progamme in 2013, sceptics regarded it as mere political talk, but over the years , we have not only proven them wrong but also demonstrated the will to match our words with action.
“It has so far been a success story by putting smiles on the faces of thousands of residents and non-residents. It has reduced to the barest minimum, disputes relating to property ownership, problem of land speculators and property related fraud, “ Amosun said.

The governor said that the scheme is another lofty policy trust of his administration, which would provide data for the medium-term planning for formulation and implementation of the Mission to Rebuild Ogun State.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Sunday Ejiro Kaizer, from Sango-Ota, commended the state government for the good initiative, noting that some of them, who applied for the scheme, took risk, but expressed happiness that they have benefited, as their land title documents have been presented to them.
