Date:

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai has assured the welfare
of troops of Nigerian Army engaged in various operations within and
outside the country, including Operation Lafiya Dole to end Boko Haram
insurgency.

Buratai’s assurances also include payments of operational allowances
and logistics for the third quarter of this year from the Ministry of
Defence.

Director of Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen Sani Usman disclosed this
on Monday in a statement issued to journalists in Maiduguri.
“This is coming from the good news of the release of funds for the
payments of operational allowances and logistics for the Third
Quarter, 2017 from the Ministry of Defence,” said Usman.
He said the payments of troops’ allowances and other logistics, was
contained in a letter sent to various formations and corps Commanders,
as well as Commanders of various training institutions of Nigerian
Army last Sunday.
Usman said: “This will facilitate the payments of operational
allowances owed to them for the last two months this week.”

Buratai said that all funds meant for the troops of Operation Lafiya
Dole; will always be paid promptly when received from the appropriate
ministries.

The letter, according to him, also showered encomiums on troops for
their unflinching loyalty, perseverance, courage and dedication to
duty.

He said these have brought about the desired success in the fight
against terrorism, insurgency and criminal activities.

Buratai also paid glowing tributes to troops stationed outside the
shores of the nation.

While commending troops for their bravery, discipline and loyalty, he
reminded them their confidence and trust on leadership of the Nigerian
Army and nation.
“You must work hard to flush out the remnants of Boko Haram
terrorists, wherever they are hibernating, including the cyber
terrorists,” he said.
