The attention of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Abia State has been drawn to a very embarrassing report that is presently trending on different news platforms wherein it was alleged that the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Mr. Chikwendu Kalu ordered Security Men attached to him to shoot some Road Safety Officials for daring to stop a vehicle carrying his wife.
APGA Abia State had patiently waited and hoped to hear the Speaker distance himself, his wife and Security details from that life threatening barbarism, unfortunately after reading a face saving press release issued by the Speaker, where he denied being at the scene of the shooting but admitted deploying his security men that carried the shooting, APGA is compelled to state as follows:
1. That though APGA and her leaders are heavily pained and highly appalled by this stone age display of naked power against some innocent FRSC officials discharging their lawful duties and for which Abia State has been subjected to national ridicule, APGA is not surprised that the said Chikwendu Kalu is being linked with such primitive act of violence since his controversial emergence as House of Assembly member was ab initiu on the altar of brut force and extreme violence that defied acceptable electoral processes.
2. That it was the same Chikwendu Kalu who was alleged to be the brain behind the burning down of INEC office in his Local Government of Isialangwa South during the 2015 Governorship/House of Assembly election when it dawned on him and his party that his opponent and the APGA House of Assembly candidate in the election was cruising to his victory. The said election remained inconclusive and the result unannounced until he was mysteriously inaugurated as House member.
3. That not too long ago, members of his constituency unanimously during a press conference called on him to resign his position as House member after it was discovered that he is no longer a lawyer as he parades himself, having earlier been indicted and de-robbed by the NBA Disciplinary Committee for alleged theft.
4. That if Mr. Chikwendu Kalu did not believe in extremism as the best strategy for achieving result, he wouldn’t have sent armed men attached to him to go and get involved in a minor misunderstanding involving his wife and armless and identifiable Road Safety Officials when he could have put a call across to the Team Leader or the Zonal Commander of the agency.
5. That if Mr. Chikwendu Kalu was misled by his wife regarding the situation on ground which prompted the deployment of the Security men, does this not amount to double acts of misconduct on the side of his wife having allegedly provoked the first confrontation by speeding pass the FRSC Officials and refusing to be booked for not wearing Seat belts; who should be held responsible for this lawlessness?
6. That if Mr. Kalu was just Chikwendu Kalu and not Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, would his wife have called him to intervene in such a manner after violating traffic rule, and would Kalu, her husband have manufactured security men to go and attack FRSC officials for doing their job; no doubt Kalu is enjoying his Speakership negatively!
7. That having continually gone down the ladder in individual character, conduct and comportment, and having shown gross lack of honour befitting of a person occupying the position of Speaker of House of Assembly through this lawless action, to the disillusionment of Abians and Nigerians, APGA is compelled to call on Mr. Chikwendu Kalu to without further delay tender his resignation letter as member of Abia State House of Assembly so as to save Abia from further national humiliation.
8. Finally, APGA sincerely condoles with the FRSC officials, their families and indeed the entire Nigerian people over that senseless and inexplicable brutality that put the lives of the officials in danger, and reminds Abians and Nigerians as a whole that actions like this are some of the reasons why APGA is working assiduously to get rid of the PDP in Abia and bring to an end the present situation where barbaric opportunists would capture political power through the back door and turn back to oppressively use same against innocent citizens.
